Books I've Read This Summer
I’ve been doing a lot of reading this summer!
I'm not a big fan of the heat, so reading is a great indoor activity during the summer that can be done from the comfort of my home, with the AC cranking. :) All of the books I’ve read over the past couple months have been the typical girly, beach reads, so if those aren’t your jam make sure to check out some of my other book posts. I’ve written two others, here and here.
I love these type of books because they are easy, light and I don’t have to worry about concentrating too hard. They are just easy…and entertaining! Here are the five books I’ve enjoyed reading this summer.
If you love Carrie Bradshaw and Sex and the City, One Fifth Avenue is written by the same author. There’s a lot of similar characters in this book to Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, so it can be a little risque, but if you are familiar with SATC - this will be no shock to you! It’s fun and has an interesting twist in there too. I recommend if you enjoyed Sex and the City!
Invincible Summer is about 4 friends and the depths of their relationship through college and afterwards. It’s a good story full of ups and downs about trying to stay close to your friends in this ever changing world we live in. There’s also some interesting things that come up along the way that show how these friends find the courage to carry on no matter what life throws their way.
I loved reading Crazy Rich Asians! I’m sure you’ve either seen the movie or at least watched the movie premiere commercials. I ended up watching part of the movie on a short flight and didn’t get a chance to finish it. I told myself that instead of finishing the movie, I would read the book instead! It’s a really fun and funny book that follows Rachel (the lead character), navigating through the wealthy family lifestyle of her boyfriend, Nick. There are a TON of characters in this book, so it may be confusing at first; but, the more you read, the more you will catch on. My book actually had a family tree in the front cover to help with that. Ha! Highly recommend!
If you enjoyed reading Crazy Rich Asians, you’ll have to move on to the sequel, China Rich Girlfriend! It takes place a couple years after CRA ends and introduces and entirely new set of characters. I highly recommend. There is one more book after this that I plan on reading soon too!
Ah, The Trophy Child, this was a good one too! This one is less of a girly read, and is more of a mystery/drama. Expect lots of family problems and drama, and a crime tucked in there too. So many twists and turns that I bet you won’t be able to guess what is coming next. Really good one!
Have you read any great books this summer? I’m always looking for more to add to my list. Happy reading!
